Institute of Building Technology and Design
The Institute of Building Technology and Design is one of 14 institutes in the Faculty of Architecture & Townplanning - Fakultät für Architektur und Stadtplanung and is composed of a team of architects and engineers. Proffessor Schurman, architecture & design, Professor Dr. Hanno Ertel, specialist for building physics and acoustics and Professor Jürgen Schreiber, who has an engineering office for building systems in Ulm. The institute studies building materials, building physics and building systems, all important aspects of architecture that influence above all our perception of (thermal) comfort and wellbeing in architecture. 1

The Brisbane Exhibition of the 2009 Stuttgart Design Workshop. Hosted by AIA Qld Chapter Office in South Bank, It will exhibit the workshop program and student project’s brief and the resulting body of work, including models & presentations produced by the 10 Australian students.
Accompanying the project models & presentations is a publication documenting lectures & tutorials, studio work & the design process at Stuttgart University, as well as excursions, social events & student life throughout Europe in the Winter of 2009.
Web content with the bios and personal perspectives of the participants, images from their process & personal experience will also be displayed at interactive terminals
The design workshop focused on sustainable architecture in areas such as energy efficiency, human comfort and building materials & services in the design of a new dwelling in a historic context. The outcomes were an architectural model and presentation reflecting each individual's design, accompanied by a project overview and extensive publication documenting the studio & design process.
